About Similan Islands

The Similan Islands are a group of nine islands in the Andaman Sea, off the coast of Phang Nga Province in southern Thailand. Known for their stunning natural beauty, the islands are a popular destination for diving, snorkeling, and beach lovers.

History

The Similan Islands were established as a national park in 1982 and were later recognized as one of the top ten dive destinations in the world. The name 'Similan' is derived from the Malay word 'sembilan', meaning nine, referring to the nine main islands in the archipelago.

Climate and Best Time to Visit

Best time to visit: November to April, during the dry season, when the sea is calm and visibility for diving and snorkeling is at its best.

The Similan Islands National Park is closed annually from May 16th to October 15th for conservation purposes. Please plan your visit accordingly.
